The ranch is his. The sheriff wants him dead. And the King's tournament just put a target on his back.

Blake beat Sheriff Raknar's deadline and bought his license. Raknar's answer is to trash Larissa's store, salt her seeds, and turn a pen of infected chickens into a forty-foot chickensaurus. Worse, he's figured out Blake is human, and he wants the Unnamed Ranch for an unknown project that seems super shady.

The Royal Leaderboard is a kingdom-wide Slimecaster tournament held once every three years in the capital. First place earns a personal favor from the King. A top-four finish makes Edgedown's portal permanent. Blake signs up. Raknar signs up too, and starts paying rivals to fight lethal.

The harem grows around the fight. Ranne is a hunter gorl with obsidian daggers and a pack of hunter blerps, found sitting on his roof. Kaena is a magma gorl blacksmith who hunts Slimecasters that abuse their gorls, right up until Raknar frames her and throws her in a cell. Vanel is a life gorl performer who arrives fleeing pursaks and refuses to lift a shovel. And Larissa is hiding something about what she is.

Glessal and Slanna are ready. So is Blob Ross. Blake just needs to fight.
